Below is a list of vocabulary that you may find useful to refer to during this course.
VOCABULARY
- past participle (noun): the form of a verb, typically ending in -ed in English, which is used in forming perfect and passive tenses and sometimes as an adjective. looked in, “Have you looked?”
- phonetic (adjective): relating to speech sounds. “Listen to the phonetic sound”.
- consonant (noun): a basic speech sound in which the breath is at least partly obstructed and which can be combined with a vowel to form a syllable.
- to hum (verb): humming (gerund) - sing with closed lips. "He hummed softly to himself".
- vat (noun): a large tank or tub used to hold liquid, especially in industry.
- gum (noun): short for chewing gum or bubble gum.
- to snore (verb): breathe with a snorting or grunting sound while asleep. “He snored all night!”
